Navigate Scenes, Sequences, and Shots across the workspace. Expand the rail, change planning order, and browse video takes.

The Timeline Rail

The Timeline Rail organizes your Scenes, Sequences, and Shots in linear story order across the top of the workspace. Expand it to see Shot cards within each Scene, grouped by Sequence. Hover over or focus a Sequence to browse its associated video takes, then choose a take to open it.

The Timeline connects Scenes, Shots, and Sequences across surfaces. Its contents depend on the surface.

Editing the Timeline

Choose the Edit Timeline pencil to reveal the add controls. Use + Shot at the end of a Sequence to add a Shot, + Sequence at the end of a Scene to add a Sequence with a blank Shot, or Add Scene at the end of the rail to add a Scene to the episode’s Script Doc. Sequence creation is available in Documents, Canvas, and Storyboard.

Illustrated example: Append a Shot at the end of its Sequence or a Sequence at the end of its Scene. Drag the dots to reorder within the Scene. Add Scene stays at the end of the rail. New Shots are selected after saving; edit mode stays open.

To reorder, drag the dots above a Shot to a new position within the same Scene. Drop it within a Sequence to change its Shot order, into another Sequence to move it there, or in the gap between Sequences to place it in a separate Sequence. The insertion line marks the destination, and Shot numbers update to match the new order.

Illustrated example: Drag a Shot into the centered gap marker to place it in its own Sequence.

Choose Done adding or press Esc while focus is inside the Timeline to finish editing. Sequence take previews become available again.
